Abstract

Background: Toxoplasma gondii is a parasitic microorganism that affects mammals and can cause chronic infections that are difficult to diagnose. Its wide distribution has raised public health concerns. The objective of the trial is to analyze the impact of Toxoplasma Gondii on public health, identifying its main risks and determinants. Methods: A bibliographic documentary methodology of scientific articles is used with the scielo, latindex and/or scopus databases. Results: According to the studies carried out by (Simancas, 2019) during the period from 2013 to 2018, 7,682 cases were documented in Ecuador, with an increase in the number of cases from 1,152 in 2013 to 1,314 in 2018, which indicates a increase in the incidence of the disease in that period. Conclusions: During the period from 2013 to 2018, toxoplasmosis was more common in the northwest of the Amazon region, as well as in the south and central-northwest of Ecuador.
