Abstract
Tourism Boom in Cuba between 1920 and 1930
During the 1920s and 1930s, the Republic of Cuba remained subject to the US right to intervene in Cuban internal affairs. The influx of American capital increased, consolidating the dominance of American capital over the Cuban economy. Numerous hotels opened, and tourist attractions related to games, shows, and entertainment were created. Regular tourists continued to arrive, but others interested in alcoholic beverages were also added. This is a descriptive historical investigation into tourism in Cuba. Objective: To demonstrate the existence of a tourism boom in the 1920s. Result: Average Annual Growth of 17.98% in arrivals and revenues between 10 and 15 million dollars. Conclusion: There was a tourism boom, with a higher scale of arrivals, consolidating Cuba as a prominent leisure destination and the main destination in the Caribbean.
